At California Tortilla, our messaging has always focused on great food and a fun experience. But today, we must break our silence and commit to expanding our focus to social issues that affect our employees and communities. We join our voice with the Black community and allies to unequivocally stand against racism. We stand with our Black employees, guests, and vendors.
We have always believed in and practiced diversity and inclusion. But now is the time to step up and take our work to the next level.
We are committed to listening and learning to make California Tortilla a company where all employees, especially our Black and Brown employees, feel welcome, empowered, and are given opportunities to succeed. Action must start internally within our culture. We are forming an internal committee composed of employees at all levels and all races to advise the company on how we can do better. The committee will advise leadership on how we can create opportunities to promote Black and Brown employees, how we can implement racial sensitivity training to all employees, how we can better onboard new staff, and identify opportunities to reduce unconscious racial bias.
We must all do our part to make the world a more equitable place. We look forward to taking action and building a better future together.
